Use ScaledThought with Cline

Cline can be pointed at ScaledThought through its "OpenAI Compatible" API provider: set Base URL to https://api.us.scaledthought.com/v1, API Key to your ScaledThought key and Model ID to a live model such as deepseek-v4-1-flash.

Before you start

Cline keeps the key in its own settings, so you paste it once in the extension.

Create the account

Pick the provider

Cline settings → API Provider → **OpenAI Compatible**. Base URL https://api.us.scaledthought.com/v1, API Key the value of ST_API_KEY in ./.env (or a sub-agent key: npx -y scaledthought@0.3 keys create --child --name cline --budget-usd 5), Model ID deepseek-v4-1-flash.

Set the limits

Under Model Configuration, set the context window (npx -y scaledthought@0.3 models deepseek-v4-1-flash shows it) and a max output, for example 32,768 tokens, so long answers aren't cut short.
